Geon BIO materials are formulated with PolyOne’s plant-based reFlex™ 300 plasticizer, which has been tested and certified by the United States Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred® Program to be 99 percent bio-based.

Homepage // News Center // PolyOne Unveils New Bio-Derived Thermoplastic Elastomers for Overmolding These new formulations utilize between 40 and 50 percent bio-renewable content derived from sugarcane, and offer hardness levels and performance comparable to standard TPEs. These new grades contain 35 to 75 percent bio content, validated using ASTM C6866-21 method B. The new, plant-based reSound BIO formulations are available globally and produced in America and Asia. reSound BIO formulations are a part of Avient’s broader reSound TPE portfolio, which includes both recycled-content and bio-based formulations.

New Maxxam™ BIO Bio-Based Polyolefins can be filled with up to 40% bio-filler from cellulose fiber.  Initially launched at the K Show in October 2022, Maxxam™ BIO bio-based polyolefins are formulated with both bio-based resin and/or filler from natural sources such as olive seed powder. They can be based on either prime or bio-based resin.

Mevopur™ Healthcare Bio-based Polymer Solutions manufactured in Malmö, Sweden, are now ISCC PLUS certified. These solutions are made with bio-derived polymers, including polypropylene, polyethylene, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and styrenics, with bio-derived content ranging from 70% to 100%. Following the mass balance chain-of-custody approach, the amount of bio-based content is tracked through segregated bookkeeping and provided in the sustainability declaration for the Mevopur healthcare bio-based portfolio.
