Because it exhibits a higher flow rate than other SBC-based TPEs, OnFlex-S TPE reduces cycle times during injection molding, a feature that satisfies productivity objectives set by Jäger. A high melt flow rate for the solution reduces packing and cooling time requirements to improve overall molding cycle times. Faster processing = lower energy costs: Higher melt flow rates enable shorter injection molding cycles, resulting in reduced energy requirements.

SBCs are shear dependent – this means their viscosity is higher at low shear rates (such as extrusion) and lower at high shear rates (as in injection molding). SBC TPEs will flow more easily into thin areas of the mold at high shear rates. The figure below illustrates the effect of shear rate on the viscosity of GLS styrenic TPEs (measured at 390°F (200°C)).

The interest rates per annum applicable to the 2029 Term Loan under the Credit Agreement are either (i) Adjusted Term SOFR (as defined in the Term Loan Amendment) plus 3.25% or (ii) a Base Rate (as defined in the Term Loan Amendment) plus 2.25%. The interest rate per annum under the term loan is, at PolyOne’s option, either LIBOR (subject to a 1.25% floor) or a Prime rate, plus an applicable margin percentage. The effective interest rate, including deferred financing costs, on the term loan was 5.7% during 2012.
