Additionally, as part of the TCC conference program, Jonathan Spiegel, Senior Engineer of Advanced Composites at Avient, will co-present with Benjamin Willis, Director of Product Development at Re:Build Manufacturing, on the Manufacture of Sandwich Structure of Recycled HDPE and Continuous Glass Reinforced HDPE Composite using Extrusion-Compression Molding. 

For the brace, Avient's engineering team developed and analyzed three options: a unidirectional, hybrid carbon and glass fiber profile; a unidirectional carbon fiber profile; and finally, a profile made with both a unidirectional carbon fiber and a transverse engineered fabric, which had the advantage of minimizing any potential cracks from propagating.

An accent groove of 0.015" to 0.030" (0.381 mm to 0.762 mm) depth and 0.030" to 0.040" (0.762 mm to 1.02 mm) width helps to develop a good shut-off.
