Caption: Avient’s PCR Color Prediction Service helped achieve color consistency in L’Oréal PCR packaging worldwide for its Redken line of hair care products.
Having identified optimized colorants for the packaging of the Redken line worldwide, Avient’s PCR Color Prediction Service helped L’Oréal simplify overall color development with recycled resin.
This means fewer color iterations, fewer color trials, and fewer plastic bottles traveling from one zone to the other.

The Influence of Color
Artisan™ Pre-Colored Formulation

The study addresses the challenges of color matching in PCR for rigid packaging, offering options that can create global color consistency, quality, and circularity.
Moreover, coloring processes for dark recycled material can be challenging due to the need for high amounts of colorant to overcome the PCR base color.
Another key discovery from the study: If colorant must be added to the base material to achieve the desired color, the addition of color concentrate can be low (around 2%).

CLEVELAND, – November 28, 2023 – Avient Corporation, a leading provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced it is adding new black colorants to its Renol™ Fiber Colorants portfolio.
Satisfying all of these needs for deep black colorants in the textile industry has proven to be challenging over the past few years as certain color technologies could meet only one or two but not all requirements,” said Mauro Dallavalle, senior marketing manager, Color & Additives Fibers at Avient.
The new deep black colorants are part of the Renol Fiber Colorants portfolio, a range of color concentrates specially formulated for dyeing synthetic yarns using the spin-dyeing (dope-dying) process.

Because they remove the need to wash products
and simplify bonding to rigid substrates, TPEs
require only one to two minutes of processing time
from start to finish, and are ideal when producing
dynamic and static seals, liquid storage and delivery
packaging, and infusion therapy devices.
Brand and product identification
TPEs can be colored to match unique colors for improved product branding.
Lastly, unlike vulcanized rubber, TPEs offer
nearly unlimited color choices for your products and packaging.

Conductive pipette tips are primarily
used in automated laboratory and production settings
with robotic pipettors to measure and dispense exact
amounts of liquid.
High-quality conductive pipette
tips must meet a number of demanding performance
criteria, including:
• Accurate measurement of minute quantities
of liquid
• Hydrophobic properties to minimize fluid retention
• Concentric dimensions and warp resistance
• Excellent chemical resistance
The manufacturer asked Avient for a specialized
solution to meet these exacting needs in a timely and
efficient manner so they could capitalize on its market
opportunity
THE SOLUTION
Avient’s sales and technical professionals worked
closely with the manufacturer to understand the
demanding requirements of the end-use application,
manufacturing considerations and cost.
Avient
determined that the manufacturer required a material
with a unique combination of properties, including:
• Processing ease – high flow rate, ability to fill
multi-cavity molds, thin-wall capabilities
• Superior toughness – strength and durability to
ensure dimensional integrity of the part
• Repeatable performance – consistent conductivity
for accurate measurement of liquids
While several off-the-shelf compounds were evaluated,
a new formulation was developed to meet the
manufacturer’s specific needs as well as provide
signifi cant benefi ts in reduced cycle time, increased
production and reduced scrap rate.
