THE CHALLENGE A global leader (“OEM”) in personal care products was developing its first entry into the Patient Mobility market and was looking for ways to gain a competitive edge and offer superior value to its customers. The resulting Smartbatch solution was developed specifically for the OEM’s patient mobility product, but was so effective that the OEM has plans to incorporate this technology into additional devices currently being developed.

The award recognizes PolyOne’s work in designing and developing the USee™ self-refraction device for Global Vision 2020, a nonprofit organization founded by the device inventor J. This year’s competition, judged by a jury of over two dozen global design experts, included over 1600 entries from 24 countries, with only 19 designated Gold winners from among the 101 awards presented.
