The colored grades feature BASF’s Ultrason® polyarylethersulfones (PAES) as high-quality base polymer combined with Avient’s Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature color formulation expertise for color concentrates and pre-colored solutions.
The market requirements for colored, high-performance polymers are clear: you have to react quickly and also be able to supply various volumes of colored material,” says Anne Hippert, general manager, Colorant Chromatics at Avient.
The colored grades will be formulated and sold by Avient as Colorant Chromatics™ made with Ultrason® by BASF.

BETHEL, Conn. – PolyOne Colorant Chromatics just launched a new chemical foaming solution for fluoropolymer wire insulation that can reduce part density while enhancing the stability and efficiency of the manufacturing process.
It’s difficult to minimize the tradeoffs between thermal stability, foaming control and high processing temperatures when applying wire insulation,” explained Barto du Plessis, general manager, PolyOne Colorant Chromatics.

They meet a fast-growing demand in the EV market by combining excellent processability, high chromatic initial color, and little to no constraints on flame retardancy and electrical or mechanical properties.
Additional functions like laser marking and custom colorants for other EV applications are also available based on the customer’s requests.
Avient will be exhibiting its broad portfolio of advanced technologies for the plastics industry, including its new OnColor durable orange nylon colorants for high-voltage EV connectors at Chinaplas 2024 from April 23-26, in Hall 8.2 Booth F31 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Hongqiao, Shanghai.

We supply fluoropolymer and
high-temperature thermoplastics-based colorant and additive
concentrates and compounds, dispersed pigments for coloring
PTFE, functional additives such as laser marking, foaming agents,
conductive, antistatic, radiopaque, reinforced, and cross-linked
grades, as well as a full range of printing, striping, and marking inks.
LASER MARKING
Driven by security and product traceability needs,
laser marking of high-temperature polymers is
becoming more common as processors strive
to overcome the limitations of ink printing, hot
stamping or other labeling processes.
Laser
marking additives are added to polymers, such
as fluoropolymers, that do not readily absorb the
wavelength of laser light.
