Based on the polymers chosen to create a specific TPE type, different performances and properties can be achieved.  A benefit of this variability is that by combining multiple polymers in a formulation, the final chemical resistance may result in a blend of all those polymers’ properties.   The chemical resistance of TPE formulations can vary, so the final formulation will need to be tested and confirmed in relation to the needs of the application.

As the global demand for these important formulations grows, it is increasingly imperative for us to serve our customers with local manufacturing,” says Holger Kronimus, vice president and general manager for Specialty Engineered Materials in Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and India at Avient, “By expanding the production of Syncure formulations to Europe, we can improve supply security and help reduce leads times for customers in the EMEA region and India.”   Syncure XLPE formulations manufactured in Europe are both UL-certified and REACH-compliant.

The new Edgetek™ ET8900 CR series formulations feature outstanding chemical and crack resistance to common consumer disinfectants versus conventional alternative polymers such as PC/ABS, PC/PET, and PC/PBT. Formulations were tested using an adapted ASTM D543 method for environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR). The flame-retardant grade in the series is formulated to meet UL-94 rating 5VA at 3.0 mm and V-0 at 1.5 mm.
