These specialty PK formulations combine excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance to meet the challenges of harsh applications, such as those found in chemical, fuel contact, or high-moisture environments.
The new materials also offer sustainability benefits over the product lifecycle through carbon footprint reductions compared to competitive materials - PK base resin production emits up to 61 percent less carbon dioxide (CO2) than nylon and POM.
These developments provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to PA66 and PA6 supply constraints hindering our customers,” said Matt Mitchell, director, global marketing of Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient.

As both the technical formulator and manufacturer of the material solutions, we help with material validation to ensure that the best resin system, fiber selection and additive technologies are customized to meet your needs.
We also provide a variety of support with 3D modeling and simulation, working commonly with SolidWorks, Digimat, MoldFlow and Abaqus, to further promote confidence in our specialty materials.

CRTM™ (continuous resin transfer molding) panels are high quality composite sandwich panels with tailored, multi-axial fiber reinforcements, high-fiber volume contents and very low void content.
Laminate skin face-sheets are also available with continuous fiberglass and/or carbon fiber reinforced polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy or custom resins.
This is possible because, unlike a pultrusion process where the resin is applied to the fiber before it enters the die, with CRTM the resin is injected directly into the die for better control of fiber alignment and resin kinetics.
