Hydrocerol™ Chemical Foaming Agents: polymer additives typically used in consumer goods and automotive components to reduce part weight, enabling processors to use 10 to 20% less plastic when creating parts that are visually identical to heavier, solid-walled alternatives

Traditionally, process aids for extrusion often contain fluoropolymers which may be classifiable as per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), a group of chemicals widely used in various products to impart properties such as resistance to heat, oil, stain, and water.

Following proposals from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to restrict the use of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), these grades extend Avient’s LubriOne™ formulations portfolio avoiding the use of fluorinated lubricants such as PTFE.    

The tool was honored with a Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Award 2021 in the Digital Chemicals category.

Benefits include high strength and stiffness performance, creep resistance, fatigue endurance, elevated and low-temperature performance, dimensional stability, and corrosion and chemical resistance.

Performance characteristics, including density, corrosion and chemical resistance, and mechanical performance, can be customized depending on application needs.  

Vapor honing, sand or bead blasting and chemical etching may also be used to produce surfaces with varying degrees of gloss and appearance.
