For stiffness or strength requirements, consider leveraging long fiber thermoplastics technologies.
However, long-fiber thermoplastic (LFT) technology addresses these concerns, bridging the gap between short-fiber reinforced formulations and over-engineered materials.
LFTs still offer the ease of injection molding, like short-fiber polymers, but the fiber length and type (glass, carbon, etc.) are key factors in the strength, stiffness, and durability of plastics.

POLYSTRAND™ THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITES
Tapes, Laminates & Panels
Polystrand™ high performance composite
tapes and laminates are made by combining
thermoplastic polymers and continuous fibers to
create continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic
(CFRTP) composites.
Avient also offers custom
configurations including fiber concentration,
additives, and colors based on our customers’
requirements.
Standard and custom shapes and sizes are
available with a variety of matrix resins
including polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy, and
reinforcements including, fiberglass mat/roving
(MR-GFRP) or unidirectional (U-GFRP) fiberglass,
or high-performance unidirectional carbon fiber.

All are semi-crystalline materials that contain an abundance of carbon and oxygen.
This is due to the low carbon footprint of the monomers, which is similar to that of traditional polyolefins.
The charts above compare 30% short glass-fiber filled samples and show a noticeable difference in the moisture uptake behavior of PK versus to PA6 & PA66.
