Food-Safe TPE: Versaflex™ thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) enables consumer products manufacturers to replace a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) silicone material with a softer, child-friendly TPE material, while maintaining strict compliance with food contact regulations in Japan and China.

The tub features a custom overmolded GLS Versaflex™ thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and non-toxic PolyOne OnColor™ colorants. In addition, Karibu chose PolyOne’s non-toxic OnColor™ colorants, which are customizable and compatible with the GLS TPE material.   Because the TPE bonds well to the polypropylene (PP) substrate, the tub withstands repeated folding and unfolding.

This includes the industry-first carbon-neutral thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), reSound™ Ultra-Low Carbon Footprint TPE, launched in 2022.  

The new device utilizes PolyOne's soft-touch GLS™ thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material that provides smooth, silky texture for comfort.
