CLEVELAND – A new technology from Colorant Chromatics, a PolyOne business, can help reduce the amount of energy required to cool stadiums, shopping malls, and other large indoor facilities. With SiteCool technology, owners of large facilities gain a new tool in the fight to make their sites more energy efficient,” said Barto Du Plessis, general manager, Colorant Chromatics.

The new color and additive concentrates and tailored ready-to-use formulations are made with bio-based polycarbonate, ABS, or styrenic polymers. Along with pre-colored formulations for users who prefer ready-to-use solutions, they are more sustainable drop-in replacements for fossil-based materials.

Local production, which is expected to begin in January 2017, enables PolyOne to support customers with specially engineered materials in addition to the color and additive concentrates already produced domestically in India. Colorants and additives produced here serve multiple end-use markets, including transportation, electronics & electrical, healthcare, wire & cable, and packaging.

The new materials have a pleasing aesthetic compared to alternative natural fiber-filled polymer grades, are fully colorable, and can be formulated to meet various regulatory compliance standards, making them suitable for consumer applications such as household items and personal care products.  Looking to differentiate in the market and meet the desires of consumers, Difaş worked with Avient to develop a solution for toothbrush handles, combs, and hairbrush handles that utilizes natural filler while also offering high-end colorability and durability.

The naturally translucent material can be colored press-side or formulated in a custom pre-colored version.
