Avient’s new reSound™ REC thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) incorporate recycled content from polyvinyl butyral (PVB) recycled from broken vehicle windshields and laminated architectural glass to support a circular economy. STUTTGART, Germany – June 21, 2022 – At The Battery Show Europe next week, Avient Corporation is introducing two new grades within the reSound™ REC thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) portfolio. To address this issue, Shark Solutions, a Danish clean technology company, recycles automotive windshields and architectural glass to extract PVB, a thermoplastic used as an interlayer in the laminated glass panels.

reSound™ REC Recycled Content Thermoplastic Elastomers can help brand owners create sustainable end-user products, with formulations utilizing up to 83% recycled content for consumer and transportation industries. Complēt™ Long Fiber Reinforced Structural Thermoplastics are injection molded composites with structural properties, able to replace metal and lightweight parts. First-generation Gravi-Tech Density Modified Formulations were developed to mimic the luxurious look, weight, and feel of die-cast or machined metals by using select metallic fillers and thermoplastic resin. Both are developed to offer comparable performance to conventional density-modified solutions but with less reliance on virgin thermoplastics, supporting the circular economy and reducing carbon footprint relative to fossil feedstock resin alternatives.  Formulated using engineered thermoplastic resins and select metallic fillers, they offer densities similar to traditional metals while providing design and processing flexibility.
