We’re delighted to be introducing our first recycled-content long fiber composite material in a planned larger portfolio based on recycled resin,” said Eric Wollan, General Manager for Long Fiber Technologies at Avient. Historically, it has been a challenge to source streams of recycled resins that are compatible with the pultrusion process used to manufacture long fiber composites. Levels of post-consumer resin content vary within the offerings, which allows end products to meet different performance and sustainability requirements.  

ThermoBallistic thermoplastic panels are thermally formed with e-glass and thermoplastic resin systems, offering a cost-competitive alternative to ballistic-resistant materials made with other fibers or thermoset resins. GlasArmor thermoset panels are constructed from layers of woven e-glass fiber reinforcements with a proprietary resin system. For example, incorporating post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin into composite materials such as unidirectional tape can help reduce the carbon footprint of those composites.
