Avient unveils new grades of Cesa™ Withstand™ to include antimicrobial and antifungal additives for TPU film-laminated products and devices in applications where combating microbe development is highly important.   These new grades are developed to enhance the performance of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film-laminated products and devices in applications where combating microbe development is highly important.   The two new available grades of Cesa Withstand for TPU film can meet the specific anti-bacterial and anti-mold protection needs of medical beds, transparent tent components, and ice bags.

These new grades offer application and design engineers a durable solution that reduces disinfectant-related failures, like cracking and crazing, so products and surfaces can last longer and look better.”  Additionally, all grades are available in a natural color, allowing molded-in-color options for a broad range of durable, consumer goods. The flame-retardant grade in the series is formulated to meet UL-94 rating 5VA at 3.0 mm and V-0 at 1.5 mm.

The new grade offers greater design flexibility and more efficient processing compared to metals traditionally used in luxury packaging caps and closures. They offer a more sustainable alternative than density-modified grades based on prime or virgin polymers. The new Gravi-Tech REC GT5200-5089 C grade is manufactured in Europe and is commercially available.
