Regrind is not an option for many two-material applications.
SEBS formulations release from cool surfaces more easily than hot surfaces.
Overmolded parts will take longer to cool because the TPE is only cooled from one side as the plastic substrate has poor thermal conductivity.

Likewise, our investment in this technology strengthens our ability to serve customers with expanded solutions and advanced capabilities that can solve material challenges across a broad range of applications.”
The naturally translucent material can be colored press-side or formulated in a custom pre-colored version.
The company adds value to global customers and improves sustainability through formulating materials, such as:

Avient’s new Versaflex™ HC BIO TPE offers a sustainable alternative for biopharma tubing applications.
Developed as a more sustainable alternative for biopharmaceutical tubing, the initial Versaflex HC BIO BT218 grade is formulated with nearly 40% first-generation biomass content, resulting in a lower carbon footprint than traditional alternatives.
The 71 Shore A formulation provides critical application performance such as weldability, kink resistance, and tensile strength comparable to leading medical tubing materials, including silicone and standard TPEs.

Avient conducted virtual prototyping, such as mold filling and finite element analysis (FEA), on a redesigned yoke, while Bettcher conducted testing on a physical prototype to simulate a half million use cycles.
Backed by these results, Avient formulated a pre-colored, long-fiber material to match Bettcher’s existing product palette.

WHY CARBON FIBER?
Traditionally, Carbon
fiber tows were used in thermoset composite applications but are being
incorporated into thermoplastics more and more.
Typically, higher carbon purity yields greater conductive
and modulus properties but in turn produces a less flexible and stiff tow.
