Homepage // News Center // Avient To Add Further Capacity For Medical-Grade Mevopur™ Materials in Asia Pacific SINGAPORE – December 16, 2020 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, announced that it will equip an existing facility in Singapore with a new production line to meet the growing demand for specialty pre-colored ‘medical grade’ Mevopur™ polymers in the region. Demand from local and regional customers for pre-colored Mevopur materials stems from an increase in the Asia Pacific market for medical and diagnostic devices and pharmaceutical packaging.

Avient developed new recycled-content materials to enable its customers to achieve their goals and add options for the circular economy. PCR grades are formulated with different types of recycled content: ocean plastics; food packaging from a variety of sources (including content that received a No Objection Letter from the U.S. FDA); oil; or polyvinyl butyral (PVB) from windshields and laminated building glass supplied by Shark Solutions.

The manufacturer needed an overhaul for the part – from a completely new base material to a more efficient manufacturing process. To get help in finding the best alternative material that could be produced faster and more efficiently, the manufacturer turned to Avient. Starting with specific performance requirements, Avient’s formulation experts set to work developing several thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) grades that could deliver better productivity and enhanced key properties than the silicone rubber part.
