The first material is injected through the primary runner system white the mold volume to be occupied by the second material is shut off from the primary runner system.
The new material can be colored and does not need to be pre dried before processing.

Coloring polymers in any process gives a degree of freedom and flexibility that’s not possible with pre-colored polymers.
Assuming that the choice between solid and liquid colorants is a black and white decision
There’s actually also a third potential pitfall here: A processor who purchases one type of equipment (liquid-color dosing or solid-color feeders) may wrongly believe their operation cannot accommodate the other type of color technology.

The new fiber colorant technology combines ColorMatrix liquid concentrates and proprietary high-pressure metering equipment to enable late-stage color injection during melt extrusion spin coloring.
Adding liquid color downstream minimizes color contamination, reducing clean out and color change time.
In addition, these new solutions allow standard white polyester fiber producers with reactor spinning lines to produce colored products in-line, eliminating the need for a secondary aqueous dyeing process.
