These new grades can help customers comply with proposed regulatory restrictions surrounding the use of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which encompass PTFE, without compromising the tribological and mechanical properties.   In addition, the absence of fluorine in the new LubriOne grades also reduces mold corrosion and facilitates part removal. The initial portfolio comprises nine standard unreinforced and glass or carbon fiber reinforced grades, in which PTFE is replaced with alternatives such as linear and high density or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE/UHMWPE).  

Developed in 45 to 55 Shore A durometers, the new reSound R grades are ideal for general purpose applications in the consumer and automotive industries. Both injection moldable TPEs can be overmolded to polypropylene (PP) and come in a natural grade that can be easily colored.  These reSound R grades with PCR content offer similar performance properties to traditional TPEs and are suitable for many durable consumer products and grips – such as personal care items, lawn and garden tools, golf clubs, and footwear.

CLEVELAND, United States and LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany – June 26, 2023 – Avient Corporation and BASF are now collaborating to offer colored grades of Ultrason® high-performance polymers to the global market. The colored grades feature BASF’s Ultrason® polyarylethersulfones (PAES) as high-quality base polymer combined with Avient’s Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature color formulation expertise for color concentrates and pre-colored solutions.  The colored grades will be formulated and sold by Avient as Colorant Chromatics™ made with Ultrason® by BASF.
