In recent years, white opaque PET bottles for dairy applications have been under increasing scrutiny for the potential effects their mineral fillers can have on the recycle stream used to create fiber. Capture is added to the bottle closure, effectively removing the barrier from the bottle. By moving the oxygen scavenger to the cap, there is greater flexibility and even lightweighting options for the bottle design.

Located entirely in the closure, Capture is for use with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. Capture is recognized by the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) to meet Critical Guidance based upon its recyclability with PET bottles. During the sorting process, the closure is separated from the PET bottle and recycled with the polyolefin stream.

While commodity plastics and engineering plastics can typically maintain their performance in environments up to 100°C and up to 120°C, respectively, a high-performance thermoplastic can withstand continuous use temperatures of 230°C.
