This high-tech facility will allow our dedicated team to understand the chemistry of polymers in the mechanical recycling process, and to see how and where problems occur.
Avient will use this data to develop new and unique masterbatch formulations with proven science behind how they perform during recycling processes, offering customers a portfolio that’s essentially field-tested for recycling.
Avient expects this to improve the ability of new technologies to be implemented in recycling processes and to assist brand owners in raising the sustainability of their products.

Avient is fully committed to increasing opportunities to expand the use of recycled polymers, addressing any barriers that arise either during the recycling process or when customers want to incorporate PCR content into existing or new applications,” said Norbert Merklein, vice president and general manager for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions of Color, Additives and Inks at Avient.
By speeding the evaluation process, the service also gives greater flexibility to customers that may need to switch from one PCR content source to another, which is especially important due to today’s supply variability.
The antioxidant can be added to PCR content early in the recycling process or incorporated in virgin resin to prepare it for future recycling.

How one supplier optimized properties, processing with UV-stable materials
The material solution, Avient’s OnFlex-S EH UV TPE, offers an outstanding balance of processability, tactile qualities, UV resistance, abrasion resistance and colorability that capably satisfies the application’s requirements.
Faster processing = lower energy costs: Higher melt flow rates enable shorter injection molding cycles, resulting in reduced energy requirements.

Spraying a coating on a film’s surface requires an investment in capital equipment and the unavoidable use of a secondary process in a film manufacturing line.
This method doesn’t require any secondary processing and uses the feeder that is already a component of almost every film extrusion line.
The addition of just a small amount of this concentrate during the film production process can make the difference between a product ending up in the shopping cart, or staying on the shelf—possibly until it has to be thrown away.
