These novel thermoplastic elastomers neither require drying nor any pre-molding preparation such as preheating
which is employed especially during insert molding.
The testing is
conducted on a molded substrate with a TPE skin insert molded onto it.
Thus far, the insert molding data presented here is very
encouraging and it is determined that these novel TPEs will exceed expectations in two-shot molding
environments as well.

This includes door mats/mat pockets, center console trays, front and rear trunk liners, or components for instrument panels & dashboards.
These materials enable automotive OEMs and Tier 1s to satisfy performance needs and advance their sustainability goals,” said Matt Mitchell, director, global marketing, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient.

Thermoplastic composite sandwich panels are highly customizable structural panels that are stiff, strong, and lightweight.
The performance of these fiber reinforced composite panels can be optimized by adapting panel thickness, core density, and skin configuration to achieve desired properties.
Performance and weight must be thoughtfully balanced, as a primary advantage of thermoplastic composite panels is greater strength-to-weight ratio than traditional panel materials.
