Avient’s new Versaflex™ HC BIO TPE offers a sustainable alternative for biopharma tubing applications.     CLEVELAND – July 10, 2023 – Today, Avient Corporation announced the availability of its newest bio-derived healthcare solution, Versaflex™ HC BIO thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Certified for USP Class VI and ISO 10993, the new Versaflex HC BIO BT218 grade is manufactured in the United States with global commercial availability.  

Versaflex™ HC TPE is formulated to produce low coring levels in resealing applications. With Versaflex HC, on the other hand, injection molding happens in seconds, and does not require curing or washing, thus saving significant time and reducing cost. Versaflex HC grades give customers confidence that the materials will comply with regulatory requirements.

The injection-moldable Versaflex™ HC 3810 series is formulated without animal derivatives and offers a wide range of durometers to serve a variety of medical device applications.   Commercially available in North America, the new specialty Versaflex grades are translucent and offer excellent colorability. Versaflex 3810 materials can be used with gamma and autoclave sterilization methods.

This Versaflex™ PKG TPE is formulated for aluminum caps used for sealing glass, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), or aluminum containers. We specifically engineered our Versaflex PKG 4190 low-migration TPEs to preserve the quality of even the most delicate beverages, provide good seal integrity, and allow easy removal of the cap.” The new Versaflex PKG material comes as a granular material that is compliant with EU 10/2011 and FDA 177.1210 food contact regulations.
