CLEVELAND – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE:POL) has launched a new overmolding technology based on its Versaflex™ VDT thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), developed for vibration and impact damping applications. The new Versaflex VDT solution enables a better end-user experience in a wide range of products for which manufacturers seek increased comfort and resilience. The new Versaflex VDT solution can also help reduce noise by minimizing vibrations transmitted from motors and pumps.

Versaflex™ HC TPE is formulated to produce low coring levels in resealing applications. With Versaflex HC, on the other hand, injection molding happens in seconds, and does not require curing or washing, thus saving significant time and reducing cost. Versaflex HC grades give customers confidence that the materials will comply with regulatory requirements.

Gaskets and stoppers can benefit from our Versaflex™ HC TPEs, which feature no coring and high resealability for dynamic and static seals and stoppers. Our Versaflex™ HC TPEs deliver exceptional extrusion rates in high clarity grades without plasticizers, and are also available in formulations that withstand high service temperatures. Versaflex™ CL E Series materials feature high clarity before and after autoclaving, with high flexibility and low extractables.

Available in two Shore A hardnesses, Versaflex HC grades can also be customized to achieve desired haptic qualities. Customers have reported that devices made with Versaflex HC TPEs successfully withstood 10,000 antiseptic wipes. With a Shore A hardness of 48, Versaflex HC 1348 is slightly softer than Versaflex HC 1365, which has a durometer of 65A and a matte finish.
