Avient helped the customer calculate costs for the
12-month period.
Projections showed the
cost of a new tool would be recouped within months,
enabling the manufacturer to move forward with
confidence.
Even more important, the Avient solution solved critical
manufacturing issues that were affecting productivity,
quality and cost.

Long Fiber Thermoplastics (LFT) for Brackets and Latches
Unlock opportunities for cost savings, lightweighting, & production efficiencies
Brackets and latches are traditionally made of
cast aluminum or stamped steel.
However,
metals also have known limitations that impact cost,
processing, and design.
Long fiber thermoplastics (LFT) combine the
structural integrity of metals with the lighter weight
and cost-effectiveness of thermoplastic composites.

In particular, these include statements relating to future actions; prospective changes in raw material
costs, product pricing or product demand; future performance; estimated capital expenditures; results of current and anticipated market conditions and market strategies; sales efforts; expenses; the outcome of contingencies such as
legal proceedings and environmental liabilities; and financial results.
This is due to the inherent difficulty of forecasting the timing and amount of certain items, such as, but not limited to, restructuring costs, environmental remediation costs, acquisition-related costs, and other non-
routine costs.

an additional line at an existing

In order to optimize its profit
margins, the company sought to control system costs by
avoiding secondary assembly and handling.
Lower system costs = higher margins: By reducing
waste from part deformation, the Avient TPE allowed the
manufacturer to leverage efficient, fast 2K molding for
system cost reduction.
With OnFlex-S TPE, the
company achieved system cost benefits that have made this
product line a profitable one.

THE SOLUTION
Maintaining premium aesthetic standards while
lowering processing costs can be difficult.
Switching from metal forming to injection molding
would also enable processing cost savings and
expanded design freedom.
THE IMPACT
The closure producer’s team switched to Gravi-Tech
material, and immediately logged a 35% cost savings
due to lower material and processing costs.

As a result of the system-based cost savings and
improved supply reliability, the manufacturer made the
decision to proceed with the Avient solution.
Cost savings: The hose manufacturer is saving $33,000
per year by using Versalloy TPV instead of its previous
material.
Higher productivity: The improved flow properties of
the Versalloy solution enabled the hose manufacturer
to increase throughput by two seconds, which in turn
reduced total system costs.
