Recycle Solutions When BIC engineers were challenged to incorporate more recycled materials in a new sustainable women’s razor, they found answers in Avient’s sustainable solutions. The Solution

The Solution Avient’s solution provides our customers with the robust barrier properties required for PET rigid containers, but with negligible effects on efficacy for rPET. This solution improves the viability of rPET by reducing haze and reducing yellowing by 50 percent during the mechanical recycling process.

The Solution The design team reached out to long-term supplier Avient GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers to help develop a customized solution. Teams from both companies worked closely to understand the specific property needs, and then searched for an impact modifier solution that the manufacturer could readily blend into polypropylene at the molding machine.

The Solution The manufacturer tested the proposed solution and validated its superior molding and processing performance before putting it into production. Improved yield rates: Changing from a blended solution to a single material reduced the manufacturer’s scrap rate by 50 percent.
