COMPTEK™ High Temperature Formulations: Eighteen months ago, PolyOne acquired COMPTEK (Diez, Germany), a specialist in formulations based on extreme-heat polymeric materials such as PEEK, PES, PEI, PPS, PSU and PPSU.

Based on polymers such as polypropylene (PP), the new formulations also include a natural filler made from renewable plant sources that would otherwise go to waste.

The breadth of the materials includes Polystrand™ unidirectional tapes made with continuous glass fiber and an expanding variety of resins such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyketone (PK), polyamide (PA), and others, and Fiber-Line™ engineered fiber tapes, made using uniquely processed fibers including carbon, glass, and aramid.

There is also a shift from polypropylene (PP) to high-density polyethylene (HDPE) closures, where post-consumer resin is more readily available.
