FRANKFURT, Germany – April 15, 2024 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable materials solutions and services, announced it will showcase its high-performance engineered fiber solutions and advanced protective materials portfolio next week at Techtextil, the leading international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwoven fabrics.   These highlighted solutions include composite fabrics and textiles that offer high strength-to-weight ratios, stiffness, resistance to corrosion and impact, dimensional stability, and more.

THE SOLUTION This coordinated effort resulted in the innovative Modular Protective System (MPS) portable structure, which incorporates an Edwards-designed collapsible truss framework and Avient’s GlasArmor™ ballistic resistant composite panels. GlasArmor panels made with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites provide excellent ballistic stopping power for the MPS while meeting the requirement of being lightweight and portable. The composite material is 25% the weight of comparable steel structures, and also weighs significantly less than concrete, making them easily deployable in the field.
