CLEVELAND – September 9, 2024 – Dyneema®, owned by Avient Corporation, a leading provider of specialty and sustainable materials solutions and services, is proud to provide ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber, unidirectional (UD) composite fabric, and film materials that are manufactured without intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) for hard and soft ballistic armor, helmets, and vehicle armor.

Traditionally, these flame retardants have often contained polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is part of per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), a group of chemicals widely used to resist heat, oil, stain, and water.

Not only does it improve the recyclability and quality of PET packaging, but it also reduces risk relative to regulatory compliance and migration of the active AA scavenging component and non-intentionally added substance (NIAS) species often associated with other types of AA scavengers.
