THE SOLUTION
When added to PET preforms or rPET, ColorMatrix
Optica blue toners and color formulations work to
correct any yellowing or color variation, resulting
in packaging that maintains a neutral or blue color
with improved quality and performance.
Since the formulation also has improved heat
stability, it will not accelerate yellowing during the
recycling process, and will also help reduce energy
consumption and improve bottle mechanical
strength by incorporating all the added benefits
from the SmartHeat RHC technology.

However, the way color is added
to fibers can directly affect the sustainability of the
final fabric, which is an important topic for the textile
industry.

MagIQ™ Liquid Fiber
Colorants & Additives
Multiple color production
• Depending on the manufacturing set-up, several
injection points can be added to enable multiple
color production at the same time on a single
extruder
Batch size flexibility
• Fiber producers can manufacture anything from
a few kilograms to hundreds of tons using the
same simple process
Rapid color changes
• No extruder contamination and easy color-on,
color-off operation increases color change speed
Waste reduction
• Rapid color changes, precise metering and
the ability to adjust color in-line reduces waste
during color changeovers
Continuous metering & long spin pack life
• High pigment and dye concentrations mean
fewer pack changes are required
• Where color is running low for larger volume
runs, low level metering sensors alert operators
and packs can be changed without disrupting
production
In-line IV adjustment
• Specialist additives are available to adjust
Intrinsic Viscosity (IV) in-line for rPET
applications
• These additives are available as single products,
or can be combined with color to create a multi-
functional formulation
Color design service
• Avient offers a dedicated color design service to
help shorten product development cycles and
enhance market agility
Liquid color processing
• Formulations are stable at temperatures up
to 60°C and retain good flow properties at
temperatures as low as 10°C
• These formulations can help lower yarn friction
and abrasion, and there is no fuming
or evaporation during production
Avient’s liquid fiber colorant technology combines advanced liquid color
formulations with state-of-the-art, high-pressure metering equipment to
enable late-stage injection of liquid color for spun-dyed polymer melt.
The reliable low liquid level
detection system alerts operators when product
is running low; adding additional product does
not require stopping the machine, so continuous
production is possible without any loss of part color.

Adding fiber reinforcement to ductile thermoplastic polymers provides a substantial boost in modulus.
With carbon fiber reinforced composites there can be additional perceived value added to products by consumers for utilizing “high tech” materials.
Thermoplastics inherent ductility combined with the energy dissipation efficiency that provides long fiber reinforced composites with added toughness to resist impact forces also translates into good vibration and sound damping capabilities.

It wanted
to avoid the brittleness, cracking and resulting
product recalls and added costs that happen when the
material is put in contact with harsh disinfectants.
The results showed the
Avient material outperformed typical FR PC/ABS and
had an added bonus: a UL yellow card V0 flammability
rating for all colors and some thicknesses.* Avient
also used its custom color matching capabilities to
provide pre-colored material that simplified molding,
while the material’s wide processing window helped
accommodate a variety of molding environments

In addition, consumers are seeking convenience provided by laundry packs and packaging with value-added dispensing for liquids.

It enables:
• Increased rPET content
• Reduced CO2 emissions
When added to rPET and PET preforms
and bottles, SmartHeat RHC helps to:
• Improve rPET quality
- Better thermal stability,
reduced yellowing
• Improve bottle quality
- Greater processability
- Lightweighting
• Reduce energy consumption during
the blow molding process
SmartHeat RHC has minimal impact on final
product color or aesthetics.
A typical remedy, adding toners and colorants, can have a detrimental effect on the brightness of the final
product.
