Performance Products and Solutions Sales increased $52.1 million, or 7.8%, in 2017 compared to 2016 primarily due to volume growth within the electrical and industrial end markets along with a 2.3% impact from higher overall average selling prices associated with raw material cost inflation. Sales decreased $25.6 million, or 3.7%, in 2016 compared to 2015 as volume growth of 2.1% was more than offset by a 5.6% decline related to reduced overall average selling prices resulting from lower hydrocarbon based raw material costs. Volume growth of 11.1% was partially offset by lower overall average selling prices due to declining hydrocarbon based resin costs.
