The Avient team assessed the application’s technical and operational requirements, and recommended a GLS™ Versalloy™ alloy in 45 Shore A durometer, an FDA-compliant medical TPV grade designed for overmolding onto PP. Ultimately, the transition to the GLS TPV proved to be a smooth one for the manufacturer.

Thermoplastic Elastomers: GLS™ Thermoplastic Elastomers: GLS™

Regulatory compliance for aqueous, acidic, alcohol and fatty food applications are available with GLS thermoplastic elastomers. GLS and Kautex Machines, a leader in extrusion blow-molding equipment, jointly developed a solution for co-extruding an ultra-thin outer layer of translucent, customized Dynalloy™ TPE onto recycled or virgin HDPE resin.

Drying is not typically required for GLS TPEs. As stated earlier, GLS TPEs are shear responsive. Most of the GLS soft TPEs are either water-clear or translucent.

GLS has focused its R&D efforts on the chemistry and technology of developing overmolding compounds to virtually any substrate. GLS 285-056 exhibits good aging properties at 70°C for at least one week. Table 2 demonstrates the outstanding adhesion values of GLS TPE onto Delrin and Hostaform.
