Compliance to IEC 60695 part 2-11 for the end product and parts 2-12 and 2-13 for materials is required in
Europe—and increasingly in other regions—for certain electrical and electronic applications.
In order to have a concentrate recognized by UL,
the following conditions must be met:
• the color concentrate producer must be
recognized by UL
• the polymer, generic or specific, must be
recognized as well
• the recognition of the material combination
(base resin + color concentrate) must be listed
in the QMSQ2 file of the concentrate producer
• the specification limits set in the QMQS2 file
must be respected if the UL 94 recognition is to
apply to the final plastic part
Avient has a wide range of color and cost options
available to provide maximum flexibility.

Some of these packaging options have
several disadvantages due to their shape and
material which do not make them user friendly,
such as handling, storage, opening, pouring
and resealing.

Set up conditions
Configuration
- When starting to process a new resin, first
run through new preforms for 15 minutes at
‘standard’ conditions to establish steady state
conditions prior to any process optimization
- Slowly start to reduce preform blowing
temperatures until failures are present
(visible pearl internal wall or pearl feet)
- Increase blowing temperatures until defects
are eliminated
- QC check bottle quality for acceptance versus
established tolerances
- Change the power consumption profile in the
ovens for early heat and longer sink times but
ensure overall temperatures do not exceed cold
crystallization temperature
- Repeat temperature reduction stage and
then defect elimination stage to test if further
optimization is possible
- Recheck QC bottle quality for acceptance versus
established tolerances
- Log all process parameters and create new
specific ‘recipe’ for future use
