A 2012 article in Plastics Technology¹ notes silicone rubber molds need tighter tolerances to prevent flash.
On the other hand, TPEs are most commonly processed using in-line, single-screw injection equipment that has been routinely used in the plastics industry for decades.

Widespread adoption of these laws and regulations, along with public perception, may have an adverse impact on sales of plastic materials.

https://www.avient.com/products/long-fiber-technology/long-vs-short-fiber
In contrast, short fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials contain reinforcing fibers of various short lengths (approximately 1mm in length on average) that are randomly orientated in the resin/pellet.
Since fiber in long fiber composites is continuous throughout the length of each cut pellet, long fiber materials have a higher fiber aspect ratio than short fiber filled plastics.
Higher fiber aspect ratio provides the thermoplastic polymer with more ability to transfer energy to the stronger reinforcing fibers when the material comes under stress load and also to dissipate that energy over a wider area, therefore greatly improving impact performance.

Use a higher modulus substrate material
Provide a 0.003" to 0.005" (0.076 mm to 0.127 mm) interference when using plastic inserts or substrates, to take into account shrinkage, sinks and tolerances.
Provide a spring-loaded area if the inserted substrate is a metal or other non-compressible material.
