Vitamins A, B2 (riboflavin),
D and amino acids become lost, lipids (milk fats)
oxidize, and off-flavors can develop due to the
resulting decomposition products.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS
• Design for shelf life, ergonomics
and differentiation
• Lighter weight bottles
• Lower system cost vs. other
rigid packaging
TARGET MARKET AND APPLICATIONS
UHT Dairy Packaging
TECHNOLOGY BENEFITS
• 100% visible light blocking for monolayer
containers
• Recyclable with general PET waste stream,
even though additive is also present
• Lower system cost
• Offers shape differentiation for containers
• Enables container designs that increase ease
of pouring
• Useful for re-sealable containers
• Useful for containers that can be stored flat
after opening
• Offers light-weighting for PET bottle without
reducing light blocking performance

All are semi-crystalline materials that contain an abundance of carbon and oxygen.
The image below demonstrates the outcome against 30% sulfuric acid.
Avient also soak-tested its performance against other chemicals including 10% hydrochloric acid, 10% calcium chloride, antifreeze, 10% ammonium hydroxide, 12% sodium hypochlorite (bleach), and ethanol.

Regulatory compliance for aqueous, acidic, alcohol and fatty food applications are available with GLS thermoplastic elastomers.
Caps, Closures & Containers: Thermoplastic elastomers play a big role in the design of ergonomically enhanced packages that can help aging users accomplish simple tasks such as opening a bottle of aspirin or a jar of coffee.
This first-of-its-kind innovation allows designers to add the tactile feel and aesthetics of TPEs to HDPE containers and packaging while keeping costs down and supporting environmental goals.

Afterward, parts need to be washed for 2 to 3 hours to remove unreacted crosslinking materials, such as zinc or sulfur.
During the injection-molding step, the TPE insert forms a strong bond with the substrate, such as polypropylene or polyethylene, used for the container closure.
The adhesive is also an additional component of the container system that must be evaluated for compatibility before use.
