Colorants added in the mixing phase of the manufacturing process can generate transparent, translucent or opaque colors. There are medical grade TPEs that can be autoclaved up to 135°C for 15 minutes, but the inherent thermoplasticity of most TPEs make them susceptible to softening under extreme heat. With the right additives, TPEs can also hold up to UV.
