CLEVELAND – Collaborating with customers to replace metal in LED lights earned PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) recognition at the inaugural Polymers and Plastics Innovation Awards, presented by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Benelux Division. PolyOne took first place in the Best Lightweighting Innovation category for helping Ayfar Otomotiv to replace metal in LED headlights for off-road vehicles, and was awarded second place in the Plastics and Electronics category for replacing metal in architectural LED lighting made by Finnish lighting specialist Kruunutekniikka. The two companies teamed up to develop an all-plastic temperature sensor in the 2015 Ford Edge to control heating and cooling of the vehicle’s interior.

This new additive joins the robust portfolio of ColorMatrix additives that enable improved recycling for plastic packaging. PET packaging can be easily recycled, yet plastic packaging waste in landfills and oceans is increasing worldwide.
