GLS 285-056 exhibits good aging properties at 70°C for at least one week. In this presentation, the development of new 40 shore A and 60 shore A versions with prime adhesion properties and universality of overmolding to various polyamides has been introduced. The initial and final tensile strength and modulus results of Versaflex OM6240 (40 shore A universal polyamide OM TPE) and Versaflex OM6258 (60 shore A) after aging at 70°C for one week have been recorded.

The Avient team assessed the application’s technical and operational requirements, and recommended GLS Versalloy™ XL- 9045-1 alloy in 45 Shore A durometer, an FDA-compliant medical TPV grade designed for overmolding onto PP. THE IMPACT Avient’s expertise in materials for medical device applications helped this customer make a smooth transition to the GLS TPV.

To meet the manufacturer’s goals for the mouse grip, a clear TPE overmolding material, GLS Versaflex™, was formulated for improved ergonomics and comfort, strong chemical resistance, and excellent bonding to the ABS substrate. A technical support team at Avient GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers conducted extensive compatibility testing to confirm proper bonding and overmolding onto the rigid substrate. This custom Versaflex grade provides 60 Shore A hardness and superior tear strength.
