CLEVELAND – March 11, 2021 – Avient today launched two new materials based on polyketone (PK) that deliver comparable performance and lower production-related CO2 levels than nylon (PA66 and PA6) and acetal (POM).
Developed in response to current nylon supply constraints, the new Edgetek™ PKE and LubriOne™ PKE series provide performance similar to PA66 and PA6.

Avient Introduces durable orange nylon colorants for High Voltage Electrical Vehicle (EV) Connectors, combining high heat and long-term color stability against fading in glass-filled PA6 and PA66 systems without compromising flame retardancy or mechanical performance.
In thermal aging tests at up to 130°C for 1,000 hours, products made with OnColor durable orange nylon colorants achieved improved results compared to similar orange colorants against long-term fading resistance while meeting customer requirements of no migration and low volatility.

When manufacturers wanted to quell performance concerns by limiting moisture absorption for nylon 6 or 6/6, the only options were less hygroscopic and more costly specialty nylons,” said Eric Wollan, general manager of Avient’s long fiber technologies.
Avient’s new line of moisture-resistant nylon LFTs are modified to absorb moisture more slowly.
Additionally, Complēt nylon grades provide lower shrink for applications that require high dimensional stability.
